Whenever a Man lies
One day, while a woodcutter was cutting a branch of a tree above a river, his axe fell into the river. When he cried out, the Lord appeared and asked, "Why are you crying?"
The woodcutter replied that his axe has fallen into water. The Lord went down into the water and reappeared with a golden axe.
"Is this your axe?" the Lord asked.
The woodcutter replied, "No."
The Lord again went down and came up with a silver axe. "Is this your axe?" the Lord asked.
Again, the woodcutter replied, "No."
The Lord went down again and came up with an iron axe. "Is this your axe?" the Lord asked.
The woodcutter replied, "Yes."
The Lord was pleased with the man's honesty and gave him all three axes to keep, and the woodcutter went home happily.
One day while he was walking with his wife along the riverbank, the woodcutter's wife fell into the river. When he cried out, the Lord again appeared and asked him, "Why are you crying?" "Oh Lord, my wife has fallen into the water!"
The Lord went down into the water and came up with Jennifer Lopez. "Is this your wife?" the Lord asked.
"Yes," cried the woodcutter.
The Lord was furious. "You cheat! That is an untruth!"
The woodcutter replied, "Oh, forgive me, my Lord. It is a misunderstanding. You see, if I said 'no' to Jennifer Lopez, You will come up with Catherine Zeta-Jones. Then if I also say 'no' to her. You will thirdly come up with my wife, and I will say 'yes,' and then all three will be given to me. But Lord, I am a poor man and I will not be able to take care of all three wives, so that's why I said yes this time."
The moral of the story is whenever a man lies it is for an honorable and useful reason !!

There Ain't No Free Lunch !

Just recently lots of people have been complaining about the service provided by Your Friendly Site. Granted it has not been too good lately, most of the problems always seem to arrive with new "updates" etc, or maintenance work on the servers.
When paying members complain, I can understand, as they, (as we were previously) are "Customers" and have paid for a service, that mostly temporally is not exactly 100%.
The loudest complaints I gather, from reading blogs, and listening to discussions in the chats, however come from "Standard" or non-paying members.
They are lots of moans that standards can't read profiles, send mail, etc etc, and that they keep getting booted out of the rooms, or the room freezes, and so on and so on.
Well it may surprise some of you to know that the Internet is NOT free.
The net is financed by a) Advertising or b)paid subscriptions!!
The only sites that do not in anyway charge are companies that provide a direct service, ie banks, Department stores and on-line shops etc.
There are some exceptions of course, Wikimedia Foundation, Inc.is a US-registered tax-deductible nonprofit charity, and there are others too.
In general it's the advertising that pays for most sites, and sites like this one do not use paid advertising from 3rd parties, so it is financed by the "Paying Members", therefor all the rest are in fact getting access for free.
If you are unhappy with the service as a non-paying member, I suggest you get together with quite a few friends and benevolent financiers, and buy a few servers, start advertising your free service, and wait while the droves all sign up.
You will of course be on-line 24/7 as you will not really be able to pay any staff, your IT engineers will have to be volunteers , etc etc etc.
Standards really are getting access for free, as A F F does not have advertising, and the paying members are covering costs and providing profits, so stop complaining that you have restricted access, or go to a site where pop up advertising fills your screen, or all your e-mail address is sold on to others, and await the flood of spam mails from ppl hoping to sell to you, or rip you off.
My IT frends tell me that most people use Microshits notoriously unrealiable Internet Explorer, and also it's extremly unsafe Messenger, and also rely on it's sub-standard virus programs.
They also, normaly never delete old cookies, or history, have their hard disc, full of rubbish that they don't need, including porno pics and videos from extremly dubious sources, have loads of windows open at the same time, that they are not using, and are running all sorts of programs in the background, and most of their pc's are not on the right settings, and then wonder why they get booted all the time, and then blame A F F for it. one of the most common causes of Freezing.
The most common reason for being booted lies normaly with your own provider, and not the site you are viewing.
Oh and if you don't meet anybody from here, or form any friendships, and you want to know who's fault is is, go look in a mirror.

Back In the UK

From the 28th June for at least a week, Mr GB will be back in the UK.
I will be working once again during the week in Swindon, and living in the Cotswolds.
At the weekend hope to be at the Luton Meet, and the last weekend visiting as many friend from here as possible.

That Was The Week That Was !

Not a week actually, ten days in fact. It began on the 1st of June, our turn for duty at our sports club, we have a small club house, built entirely by the members, and each weekend members take turns to open up and look after the bar. Many friends came to see us, apart from the regulars that always pop in for a beer or a wine and a chat and exchange stories.
We were open on the friday afternoon for four hours , and again on Saturday afternoon, Sunday open in the morning until lunchtime. An enjoyable task, as we get to see so many ppl.
The rest of the week, Mrs GB and I spent together, as she had a week of work, and college
We spent out time doing various chores that needed to be done , but mostly relaxing, everyday lunch at mum in laws, and we watched lots of DVD's.
Two that we can recommend , "An American Haunting" with donald Sutherland and Sissy Spacek,
a rather disturbing story and "Blood Diamonds" true hollywood , but give a good background to whats going on in Africa, also disturbing.
Thursday was "Corpus Christi" a public holiday in our part of the country , and we both took a short cycle tour around the area , exhausting but fun
Saturday, my loverly lady was working hard shopping etc, in preparation for my birthday on Sunday, we popped along to the riding shop and bought my present, neither the less its made of leather!
Sunday , my loverly and her BF came to dinner , as well as Mother in Law,(roast beef, roast potatoes and yorkshire pudding ) got lots of cd's and a few DVD's of live concerts etc , always my favorite prezzies
Later we were joined for coffee n cake by other friends and relatives, a very pleasant relaxed birthday party.
Oh an an unusualy ammount of good sex

Angels

Last weekend we were blessed with the visit from two little angels, who both brighted our days.
They were accompanied by their lil angel mother and another good friend, together we explored the countryside, saw rivers and streams, castles and fortresses, and generaly had a good time.
We are looking forward to seeing them all again , as soon as possible.

A Loooong Weekend

What a great weekend, four long days in the company of a very loverly lady.
We met late on Thusday night at the airport, and after long chats and wine, finally to bed. Friday enjoying the morning on the balconey, off to the Friday market, and showed her around our town, later for a meal, we thought she was gonna seduce the waiter, there and then!
Saturday we draged her up hill and down dale, from one castle to another, and she still had the energy to come with us to the small little festival in town, and yet another late night.
Sunday the same, off to the festival again, dragging her screaming into the museums and around town. 
On Monday I marched her up the the top of the hill, and marched her down again, all the time she had her camera out and took loads of piccies.
She really brought a lot of sunshine with her in to our life, we all had a great time, laughed and joked a lot, and spent time getting to know each other.
Looking forward to the next time , and now that we know her tastes , maybe we can arrange a few nice men to meet as well. ,)
Strangely it rained most of Thursday, and during her visit we had wonderfull weather, today, we have had thunder and lightning all day !

Mothers Day

Yesterday here in Germany was Mothers Day, and instead of the traditional prezzies one always gives, we gave Mum In Law some very precious time.We spent the whole day doing with her what she loves the most, hiking though the wonderfull countryside we have here.
Early start to catch the "Cycle Bus" that's the normal bus, but on Sundays and public holidays it pull a huge trailer behind it carrying cycles, thus saving lots of CO², and enabling hourds of cyclist to getaround the plateu.The whole State here has a huge network of cycle paths, leading from one beauty spot to the next.
Then we changed to the "Rail Bus" that also especialy runs on Sundays and public holidays, also with a complete carrage equipted to carry cycles. It is in fact an old diesel train that has been kept an run by a local enthusiats club.
Then again, change to another "Cycle Bus", and onto Grandma's favorite valley. Then followed an approximatly 11 mile hike following the river though the valley along the hiking trail, untill four hours later we reached our destination,"Our" Hiking Home.
We call it "Ours" because both Grandma and Grandpa(along with many others) spent many hours of voluntary work re-building it, and later running it. All three of us, and our and boyfriend also spend at least one weekend, and one week of our summer holidays here, running and taking care on the overnight and day guests
There we met other friends and aqaintences, and later our own , along with her boyfriend, his brothers, and their mother, and we all sat and spent a pleasant few hours in each others company.
Then later on to one of our favorite Pub Resturant, for an amazingly good,generous and cheap evening meal together.
We were then all driven home. All in all a wonderfulll day with good weather, and great company, although I must confese I had a problem keeping up with girls, and grandma, (Mum In Law)is 74 !!!

The Merry Month of May

The Merry Month of May for us in our region really begins on the night of April 30th, Walpurgisnacht, or Belthaine in Celtic, in fact the Allemannen Walpurgis replaced the Celtic Belthaine, and was latter more christan.
Anyway it's the night of bonfires and erecting the May Pole. In our area a local sports club always has a Bock Bier Festival,on this night and like most years we went along,enjoyed the beer, the company, and the good loud rock music and staggered home very late.
May 1st traditionally here is a family day,(apart from all the union gatherings), and you will find many families walking, hiking,cycling and generally enjoying the countryside.
We went off to visit a new lake our fishing club had acquired, and to explore the area, and on the way back visit a few friends at another of our lakes.
last weekend was the traditional May Market, in a neighbouring town, and we spent both the Saturday and Sunday,seeing old friends, family and neighbours there. Good cheap food and drink is supplied by the many clubs and associations we have there.
Almost every weekend now and thought out the summer, there will be large and small town or club festivals held in the villages and towns thought the area.
This Sunday is Mothers Day here, and all the pubs clubs and restaurants will be full of families with mothers young and Old will be out enjoying a meal. We are taking Mum in Law out for a hike, and on the way back visiting a few of her old friends.
Next Thursday is Accession day and a public holiday, also known here as Fathers Day, where traditionally, young men, mostly not fathers travel around the area from pub to pub and get roaring drunk, or organize various outings or grill parties.
On this day a good chat friend from near London will be visiting us for a long weekend, we have not met before, and hope she will enjoy the loverly countryside we have here.
The following weekend is Whitson, also a long weekend , and there will be plenty to do around here.
In the Saturday night, we will be staying in Stuttgart hoping to meet a few of our network friends for a sociable evening.

Whitson wekend two very good friends and 2 loverly are visiting so we have to cancell the network meet , will re-arrange it for June:

Network Friends Meeting 26th may Stuuttgart germany

On the 26th of May, we will be spending the night in an hotel in Stuttgart, and we invite all our Network Friends, and members on our "Hotlist" to join us for a drink at the bar, and later a night out in Stuttgart, either for a meal in a resturant or maybe a disco or bar evening.
We are thinking of a purely social event in order to give our network friends the oportunity to meet us, and each other. and see how the night develops
We hope that we will have a mixed bunch of couples, singles - men and women of all ages

My wife and I were sitting at a table at a local bar. I kept staring at a drunken lady swigging her drink as she sat alone at a nearby table.
My wife asked me, "Do you know her?"
"Yes," I sighed, "She's my old girlfriend. I understand she took to drinking right after we split up those many years ago and I hear she has not been sober since."
"Good Grief," my wife said, "Who would think a person could go on celebrating that long?"
Off tonight to see a local band play at a music pub not to far from us, great band, they have played for the last two years at our yearly festival at our sports club. They do some really good blues, and good rocking oldies, just right for our mood.

Spring Feelings

Saturday am, Mrs GB goes off early to the hairdressers, arrives home with new dyed eyeslashes, and red streaks in her dyed blonde hair, she looks really cute n sexy.
We rest up for a while, then she's in the bath preparing for our night out later. Change of plans, we're off to a beer garden with and boyfriend, had a good time there then a drink later in a pub nearer town.
Sunday. Full of the joys of spring after a pleasant evening, we drive up the mountains to a plateu, where the gliding club have their base. We spend a pleasant afternoon, watching the glider take off and land, and enjoy a good long walk, coffe n cakes at a nearby resturant, then home for evening meal with family.
Seeing all the trees in full blossom adds to the pleasure.

Long Weekend II

Saturday. long lazy day, I potted about the house a bit and played around on the net, Mrs GB organised the shopping, then off to a great nephews birthday party.
His older brother had a birthday the day before, and most of the family went off to a holiday park, and all were back to celebrate again.
Great fun playing with all the , and catching up on family gossip and news.
In the evening off to play Skittles with friends, we do this once a month, it's a good laugh , and cheap entertainment for us all. Except we forgot that the pub was closed that day, so off to a sports club resturant for a quick bite with the others, then for a change early to bed.
Sunday, up early and off to the Easter Sunday church service. It's nice that even in a full church, one has time and solitude to think and contemplete, also at religious holidays more people are there and you get to see people you haven't bumped into for a while.
Most of the older folks then go off to the cemetary, and congregate and chat there, whilst tending the graves.
Short visit to Mum in Law for coffee, met one of my favorite neices also there, ( all my nieces are my favorites, they are such loverly , although most are grown up now.)
Lazy sunday afternoon, late sunday dinner, film, then bed to watch yet another naughty DVDWe never did get to go "Toy" shopping, but can always do that another day
Monday. meet the younger nephews again with parents and grandma at "Our" castle. Not far from us is a wonderful fairy tale medievil castle, a local tourist attraction, and while they all toured the castle, I took lots of photos for my Opera blog, beer, coffee and chat with all till we left later in the afternnoon, to cook dinner, for us and and her boyfriend.
Fully relaxed , watch a bit of Tv , then early to bed . Poor Mrs GB has to get up early for work
All in all an eventfull, but relaxed family holiday weekend, with some naughty bits in between

Long Weekend

Thursday night, a nice night alone with Mrs GB, nice and relaxed. We got a few DVD's, went to bed late .
Friday,Walked the four miles or so to our sport club for traditional Good Friday Lunch of fish.
Every year on Good Friday, since it opened some 15 years ago,our fishing club opens the club house for all, and serves baked or smoked trout, with salad. We normally in the course of the day, have about 100 or so visitors.
The trout are bred by the club, into basins by the club house, the basins are supplied with fresh running stream water, that runs though then joins the main river in the town a kilometer of so away.
From the 1920's until the late 1950's it was the local open air swimming pool, but was not tiled or build out, after being left for some years , mother nature took it back, and now it's perfect to bred and keep our fish.
After lunch, we stayed,drank and chatted with friends and visitors for a couple hours and then walked along the cycle path, the 4 miles back home.
This whole area is laid out with cycle and walking paths , and this particular one used to be the railroad track. Along this path once ran a single track rail, the trains were pull by a Diesel locomotive and in order to complete the steep climb to the top of the gorge at the end of the valley, cogs were fitted to the engine and the carriages, and a cogged rail fitted in the middle of the tracks.
Tired after our long day, we relaxed once again for supper and a DVD, "The Devils wears Prada"
