Is relationship based on sex?
Is relationship based on sex? Having sex to make up after arguments is common in sex-based relationships. The couple has sexual relations then everything is fine until the next argument but the problem remains because they are not solving the issues. The couple usually spends most of their time breaking up and then making up again. Can this type of relationship work? A relationship needs substance and a secure foundation to succeed. This type of relationship can work if the couple matures beyond just the physical attraction and sexual chemistry. People sometimes confuse intimacy with sex. Being intimate with someone is much more than just having sexual relations. Physical intimacy can develop rather quickly but intimacy on a deeper emotional level takes time. Sex is a temporary fix but it cannot fulfill the need for true intimacy. People that engage in superficial relationships such as those that are centered on sex, often fear commitment. They long for closeness but fear being hurt. The fear makes it difficult to become intimate on any other level other than a sexual level. They opt for lust rather than love so they can experience closeness without allowing their emotions to be involved in order to avoid being hurt. goodbuddy781 |

Mr. GOOOdbuddy781, "While there is nothing wrong with being attracted to someone because of the way he or she looks, the relationship will be shallow and superficial if the physical attraction is the only basis for the involvement." I never mentioned attraction in my post. It is given that in every relationship there is a sense of attraction to your partner. Your original question was about relationships based on sex, and that is what I attempted to answer. Relationships based purely on physical attraction are another subject all together.

Mr, GOOOdbuddy, Not all relationships have a sexual aspect to them. You see there are many types of relationships that people form. You have a type of relationship with your co workers, your friends, family, and even the people at places you regularly shop. All these relationships are most likely devoid of sex. Now when you delve into a partner type relationship, there is a certain part of that relationship that is based on sex. Not the entire relationship, but a portion of it. Intimacy with your partner will enhance the sexual part of the relationship, just as lack of sex can destroy the intimacy portion of the relationship. Now most women do not need sex to feel intimate with their partner, in fact the sex to them is a bonus, for the most part. Now for most men sex is a form of intimacy, so when the relationship lacks sex, they feel as if they are being rejected. This is where communication comes in. One must understand their partner's wants and desires in all aspects of the relationship, otherwise the conflict will show up. goodbuddy781

Intimacy and sex in relationships are two very different aspects. Although it is good to enjoy make up sex after an argument, but no good relationship is just based on sex unless it is a NSA or FWB kind of relationship where it is based on just hooking up for sex. You do have some interesting blogs full of great information, so thank you so much and I hope you enjoy your Hump Day.. goodbuddy781
