Selective Comprehension

Lady arrives at t the checkout counter,.. and I work for a large, upscale retailer. One night, I’m assisting a lady with several items.
Me: “Alright, ma’am, your total price is".
Customer: “I believe those are all supposed to be 40% off.”
Me: “No, ma’am, these are all regular price.”
Customer: “No, I believe everything is 40% off.”
Me: “No, ma’am, there may be a sale like that upstairs ’s, but we don’t have any discounts like that here in this department.”
Customer: “Well, there’s a sign in your front windows that says inside 40% off!”
Me: “Well, perhaps I’m mistaken. Would you mind showing me where you saw that?”
(She leads me out the front door of our store and points to a large sign in the window.)
Customer: “See? 40% off!”
Me: “Yes, ma’am, but it says 40% off ‘Selected Items only.'”
Customer: “Right! And these are the Only items I’ve selected!

I actually know a similar story. A man came to where I worked and was telling us that he had bought a new car. When asked he said she bought a "Gooli." We all were like, what car? He repeated looking at us shocked "A GOOLI. That is what she bought." We stood there a second and said could he give any detail on this car? He said it was a Pontiac and knowing we were frustrated said he knew how to read. Okay, we couldn't resist and wanted to see the car so we went out to the parking lot. IT WAS A PONTIAC 6000 LI!!! He had somehow seen the 6 as a G and put the LI right up next to it and it became a Pontiac GOOLI not a Pontiac 600 LI. omfg.. some people.
