Another topic for the ladies
Another topic for the ladies Ladies, we're curious-- Do you have your auto-reply turned on? Why or why not? Do you find it to be beneficial to have on regularly? We're in the process of adding back features to the MC, like attaching your profile and including a signature. We'd like to learn more about users who have their auto-reply set, and how they find it beneficial to their time and use of the site. We'd love to hear your thoughts! Do you only use auto-reply on certain occasions, or is it always set? Do you use it creatively? How do you use this tool? And if you don't, why not? Men, please feel free to chime in as well! |

I have mine on all the time. It's polite but simply explains my age preferences and that if they fall outside them...or their mail doesn't concern blogging they are not likely to get any further reply from me. ~~Anais Nin~~

I always use auto reply but I'm not sure how much it helps. I used mine to tell men that it can take me up to a few days to get back to hem but that they will only hear from me if I'm interested. I figure that if they choose to ignore it in my profile, they might pick it up from my auto reply. I'd be thrilled if you added back both of those features. If I write to a standard member, I can send them to my blog, but it's easier to just attach my profile.

Aryana I don't use an auto reply but I do know many ladies do use it on here. The ones getting in lots of email see it as a benefit to use. Then their readers are not wondering if they will get an email back or not. I like to answer emails no matter who is sending them. hugs V Become a blog watcher sweet_vm

I agree with JT, from a male point of view i hate getting auto reply. I wish there was a delete message option in the message centre so i could delete all the auto replies without having to delete whole conversations. Like JT i never use pre written material to send women on here, all my emails are individually tailored and written to the specific person i'm writing to on here, i read the profile and try to write in reply to what is written on her profile. This is why it can then be annoying to get an auto reply and then never get a personal reply. While we're on subject of message centre how about you introduce an ongoing conversations folder, a deleted messages folder and a junk mail folder. Would be much easier to organise my messages that way. I also think the site should re introduce the option to attatch profile in a message, and give us a choice of which profile photo we want to attatch instead of just our main one. This is how it was in the old MC, which was a much better message centre than the current one in my opinion.

Unlike most males...I don't mind getting a "auto-reply" Why? Because that means it WORKED! They got my email! YAY! So glad the attach profile is going to make a return...way past due.

When you add the attach profile back can that include the ideal match section as well?

Hello Aryana, Thanks for asking. I never used the feature but I have friends who do. I prefer to just reply to each email I receive rather then use the auto reply. Happy Wed, Ana6

Bring back voice messages and attaching your profile to an e-mail, please. Voice messaging was a fun, unique, and memorable way to make contact! It has disappeared. Attaching your profile was canned because the site was moving towards the mobile platform - sorry, it was because the site was going to allow message recipients check out the profile of the person sending them mail. That never happened. Bring it back - it'll at least avoid the "what are you looking for/tell me about yourself"... So, to restate, please, bring back the attach a profile and the voice messaging. Thanking you in advance.

I had use the auto reply before. But then the problem with auto reply attached automatically the same number of flowers back to those who had flowers attached on the email. So I had stopped using the auto reply since then. I don't use attach profile or use signature on emailing.

I STILL use mine. It is sort of a refresher of what I am interested in and lets the guys know that if they don't meet my criteria to not expect an answer from me. I hate that you took away the quick replies. It made rejecting someone less painful. Now I have to ignore or write something to them, except that I am rather BLUNT and it comes off abrasive

To be honest, I don't care if men feel irritated: 99% of them have not bothered even to read my profile and are totally looking for something I am not. And not even close to what I'm looking for. Guess I'm trying to remind them to read a bit... But more like banging my head against the wall... In the beginning I didn't use auto-reply, replied to all the mail. And that was a mistake... Saying politely 'no thanks' isn't something most men here accept At least in this part of the world several men consider women on this site as call girls Therefore started to use auto-reply, indication my preferences, also suggesting them to read my profile and blogs and use blogs to communicate with me. Also mentioning that I will reply personally IF I'm interested. Hardly anybody has read the profile, not even where I live!!! What do I do with a man who lives on a different continent etc! Sure, can understand the frustration if really done the homework and genuinely interested in someone. But auto-reply is not a sign we are not real... Would love to be able to use some formatting, blings etc, make it look normal and modern. Now all is just big mess Only universal or also in Scotland Where to start my day or is it month Of course I39ll change I39ll do whatever you like Heatseeking missiles Squirter's life

I have mixed feelings about the auto-reply...I don't GET any e-mails, so I have no need to use it, but I've been the recipient of a number of them. . For ME, it seems cold, and leaves me with the feeling that the person in question hasn't bothered to even read anything I wrote before dismissing me (a feeling which, I totally understand, may not actually be true). On the other hand, it DOES provide an indication that, even if she never responds, my e-mail actually GOT to her inbox. . I can understand the desire of women to use the auto-reply just to be able to provide SOME sort of response to all the e-mails; I'd rather see a personal response, but at least the auto-reply shows me that my message was received, if not actually read. .

I always keep on my auto-reply. I do read all emails, but I only respond to someone I'm truly interested in. I find that even a "sorry, but no thank you" often seems to encourage the emailer, thinking since I took the time to reply they may have a chance to convince me otherwise. I hope the auto-explains why I didn't. Here's mine...and I sincerely mean what I say "Thanks for your interest. I do appreciate your positive response to what I've written, pics, video, etc. (I'd be lying if I didn't, or else why would I post them here.) However, as my profile states, I'm serious about the over 40, living nearby and not married criteria. If you don't fall into those categories or are someone I feel I wouldn't be compatible with after reading your profile or email, I will most likely not respond. Good luck and have fun. I don't get it... It can't inhibit men from sending emails, even if they are unsuitable, because they only get it after they've sent the email. It won't help men who haven't read the profile understand why they won't be getting a response because if they didn't read the profile then why would they read an auto reply? And apart from knowing that your email got through, it doesn't help a man who has read the profile, who does meet the requirements and still does not get a response. All it does is tell the recipient that their email will probably be ignored... and they will know that when they send it

I keep my auto reply on since the auto reply takes care of responding to 98% percent of the emails I get. The clueless idiots at least get an auto reply so they can't bitch that they got nothing While you're re-doing the message center, what say you include the auto reply editing IN the message center and not as part of the profile since updates to the auto reply sends the entire profile to the review queue and we know how quick and literate they are over there. Anatomic=weapon . . . yeah, right . . . Since the site lifted the restrictions in the emails, there's really no need to review the auto reply whether it contains personal information or not.

As for the autoreply itself... I USE mine. I see it as an 'answering machine' not as a brush off. If you called someone and you get an answering machine or voice mail most of the time nowadays. So many men complain that they don't know if the women even GOT the email they sent, and I can understand, but many continue to write and write and write because they are not sure she got it. Autoreply says 'we got it'. Mine does include "I have not read your email yet, this is an auto reply". They at least know I received the email, it DID go through. NEXT, at one time when I was looking I was receiving at least 100 to 150 emails A DAY!! I almost needed a secretary to answer all of those. I just didn't have time. Many of them were out of state, out of age range, married/attached, and just had not read anything. If I replied with 'thank you but not interested as you are ...too old/young, married, out of state etc..." I would get told "if you don't want to f*ck get off the site!!". Well I WAS here looking then, but I am not required to have sex with EVERY guy that contacts me. That leads me to elaborate on the polite 'no thank you' (NOT ALWAYS) but has turned into one of two things many times..... either A - they get all ticked off and call you names of which I have personally been told I am fat, ugly, who would do me anyway they were doing me a favor, I am now a skank and a wh*re... all because they didn't get the reply they wanted. Then there is B - the guy thinks he got a reply and even if it was no thank you, it was a REPLY, and as someone else said it actually encourages them to continue to write no matter how politely you said no thank you. Then you end up blocking them. Now, this is not ALL men on the site. I have had very well written messages and many that DID read the profile. I do respond to them, but again, even some of the BEST and well written emails have turned to the nasty because they got rejected. I clearly state in my autoreply that I am not looking to meet, but I will help anyone with the way the site works, and I will respond if one is needed. MOST get it and I have had a wonderful time helping many on the site with kudos sent back to me in return. Unfortunately with the site ads of "get laid in 24 hours" and "women desperate to have sex" the thoughts and ideas ARE skewed right from the get go. Those are ADS folks, the Swedish Bikini team will not parachute out of nowhere if you drink a certain brand of beer, and by the same right most of the time no woman is going to just run to service you in 24 hours regardless of what the ad said. They think they were promised something and when they don't get it they 'can' turn nasty rather quickly.

Well I quess I am in the minority..... I don't use auto reply infact and I dislike auto replies..... To me that means you are too busy for me, or so busy you need a secretary. So I have a do not like auto replies on my profile. If more than three. I won't answer any more. Yes the 3 strikes you out LOL

Here's a idea...as long as you are tweaking the FB Chat Center...why not tie the "Cupid Settings" to trigger the "Auto Reply" i.e. Don't match the criteria of the persons filters...it sends a polite "Auto Reply" of the recipients choice...tie it in to the quick reply...bring that back too...give us choices... would make for a lot of "Happy Campers" around here.
| |||||||||||||||
|
I had the filters on for a while but then left them out, and why: as I tend to get mail from other kind of people too, not only looking for my company etc, for intance members of the squirting group sometimes contact me. With filters on I could not reply to their questions as they could not mail me in the first place. One more reason to use auto-reply: I live in central Europe, a border region with several totally different languages (Luxembourgish, French, Flemish, German). I have a reminder that please use English... Nothing in my profile indicates anything else but the place I live might give different idea. This has worked quite well, often getting the second mail in English or then apologies for not speaking English. All it does is tell the recipient that their email will probably be ignored... and they will know that when they send it My auto-reply gives a short view on what I'm looking for - and also says that I'll reply personally if I'm interested. Getting often 'thank you for letting me know' as they have missed some points = have only checked photos or then mailed to all the women of the area... have not read the profile. Or then sending me another mail in English if the first one was in German, French etc. Sound rude? So be it. I have my preferences, if someone wants to get into connection with me, he's better be able to read... and show me respect from the beginning. If no kind of reply, some tend to mail several times... So yes, I have tried all kinds of things here. Auto-reply off, filters on, replying to every mail, using quick replies and so on. For me auto-reply seems to work best. And even some men seem to approve it... Only universal or also in Scotland Where to start my day or is it month Of course I39ll change I39ll do whatever you like Heatseeking missiles Squirter's life

The old message centre did have a filtered email folder, again another reason why the old message centre was a better mail system for this type of site. It seems to me the site has gone backwards not forwards with this new message centre.
