Extreme pain and sorrow

Extreme pain and sorrow

A certain amount of pain and suffering makes life poignant.

This is easy for me to write, because I frankly haven't seemed to have had as much of these dualities as other people I've read about-- or friends I've known.

I seem to have sailed though life pretty much unscathed. Well, perhaps I've needed a small band-aid on my physical body or more likely my spiritual self. And....it's wise to keep in mind that my life ain't over yet, and who knows what snarled twists and turns are up the highway just waiting to rip flesh?

My greatest spiritual pain happened when my wife and I split. This is an old story between many of us humans, so I won't bore you with any details except to say it was a fortunate thing for me, because it got me into therapy-- both group and individual-- and caused me to quit drinking and smoking, and changed my life for the better. But it was painful. It was one of those things you can look back on and are glad you went through, like a stint in the Army, but please, and no thank you, one drive through was enough, as was the Infantry, which I also went through.

The most excruciating physical pain I've suffered was from a back injury, which over the course of years, finally healed by itself. That particular pain, when it first happened, knocked me unconscious from the spasms. The injury happened from putting up 110, 9 foot solid oak REAL railraod ties on the boundaries of my property by myself. Each of the posts weighed over 200 pounds, and I simply ruptured a disk in my back. I love all those railroad ties that are still standing tall, and strung with chainlink fencing around my 5 acres. Late at night my imagination lets me hear the ghost locomotives running over those oak posts.

I had a lot of trouble with my teeth. They always looked good, but until I finally had them all pulled and got the nice computer generated false teeth I now cherish, I had one trip after another to the dentist. Root canals became my second name. False teeth are no longer the ill-fitting things our grandparents (or George Washington), had to put up with. If I'd known how great my teeth fit and chew and speak through, I'd have had my trouble plagued natural ones taken out many years ago.

My greatest joy in life has been sexuality. M. being part Apache, shares that part of me. M. and I are cosmic twins and share bizarre sexual enjoyment. We never use drugs or alcohol. Sex is one of the things that bonds us together. I've never taken pictures of M. She still has ancient beliefs such as believing pictures steal part of our souls. The stimulation of our bodies during sexual arousal is part of M.'s ancient meditation--so you can understand what a jewel M. is to me, and how, with everything considered, I'm such a lucky old time traveler...

NO I understand that none have been posted on the site.....I was just curious if you had taken any of M. just for your eyes.....I love taking pictures. and to me its would seem "just not right"" not to have pictures of M. as keepsakes for yourself......
Yes, Silky love, I have two pictures of her that I treasure--and she hates, lol.. xxxxdavid

No matter how much of a good thing it is getting a divorce is a soul ravaging experience. You have had an interesting life and I suspect it is cause you take it as is comes and don't linger over the should haves or should bes.
I LIKE you Mr. Justskin! You have a very keen sense of our human workings. It's true.. I usually look ahead and let the past just be an interesting memory of experiences now, that can no longer harm. xxxxdavid

My favorite of Kahlil Gibran's comments is on Joy and Sorrow. He says in effect that greater our sorrow has been the greater our joy can be and visa versa. The scales of life dance between the two.
I have Gibran's THE PROPHET, somewhere, but since I got this computer some years ago, I'm afraid my books have languished in random order all over this old place. I DO remember how beautiful Gibran wrote. I read Kahlil, and books like Siddartha, and THE LITTLE PRINCE, and most of the classics, during the 1960's. It was about the time John F. Kennedy was shot.

How true his statement! Thank you for giving it to me here...xxxxdavid

If you see me in the real world, come say "Hi Justskin."

I always behave. Preferably not well.
