LOOKING AT AM RADIO

LOOKING AT THE RADIO

I grew up listening to the AM radio. I remember listening to Theodore Roosevelt's fireside chats--on AM radio-- of course.

FM radio, and especially the flat TUBE weren't invented when I was a . I suppose FM radio WAS around, but nothing was ever broadcast on FM that I can remember.

Many-- MOST-- of the THINGS in today's world were only mentioned in Science Fiction stories of years ago.

Even Science Fiction stories were hesitant about going too far out. A lot of technological advances in today's world were never mentioned, probably never even IMAGINED by those early Sci-fi writers.

I STILL prefer the AM radio to other forms of communication.

I'm nearly always puttering around working on things. THIS large desert home is always undergoing change, repair, painting, moving things from one place to another...and you all know how all that goes.

If you're living in a small apartment, as I did when I lived in L.A., you only spend time in your apartment to eat breakfast, and sleep.

AM radio is perfect for listening to while doing some no-mind-required physical task.

THE TROUBLE IS, AM radio has been taken over by a few huge corporations like CLEAR CHANNEL.

Only a few years ago, there were many different stations on AM radio. When you got tired of one station, all you needed do, was change the station.

In today's world, when you change the station, THERE'S stupid, manipulative, irritating, always ANGRY Rush Limbaugh AGAIN! You just turned off his insipid voice beaming in from a station out of Los Angeles, and he's still on in Denver, and San Francisco, and Dallas and hundreds of other stations across the U.S. all controlled by Clear Channel, or Fox.

There ARE a few small, independent radio stations broadcasting here on the Mojave Desert, but their content is so STUPID a person needs to be brain dead to listen to the drivel for more than a few minutes...I'm pretty stupid, but these local stations even turn me off. And so.... I've been tuning out and turning off AM radio. All things in life change.

You and I seem to be in the same situation with dial-up. We've just upgraded to another level of AOL.---9.6. It seems to be more stable than VR 9.0 we had before.

I'd like to see all the nations of the world get together to supply affordable Internet Connections to everyone on this planet. Communication between everyone is the best way to resolve the world's problems.

I worry about the Military Industrial Industry in the U.S. I think the military, going hand in hand with global corporations has taken over this country.

Most governments are afraid of the Internet. They like to keep their people uninformed, and the Web is a threat to them...Especially countries like North Korea and China.

I'm glad you've gotten back on the Web. You'd be greatly missed by a lot of people if you were gone from this site...

I've never listened to AM....but do listen to the talk shows on FM as I'm get ready for work in the mornings, the rest of the time its music I listen to on the FM channel.
Our new little Border Collie, sleeps inside with us. She's still getting used to all the freedom I've giver her, and she likes the radio on near her. She likes talk radio if it's turned down very low..

When both M. and I are gone shopping or for some other reason, I bring both dogs inside and turn on FM radio to music. xxxxdavid

We only have dial-up internet here on the outskirts of the Mojave Desert... I've never been interested in listening to music on the radio.

My favorite radio show of years past, was Art Bell's all night show. His show has morphed into Coast to Coast with an idiot, George Ornay or some weird last name, who seems to be a nice guy, but we all know that nice guy's always finish last.

Thanks for your comment..xxxxdavid

Thank you for coming to my blog and leaving a comment on this post, Cherimore.

I enjoy talk radio if it's balanced and not to far to the left or to the right.
